The Guide to Tracking Metrics
What gets measured, gets managed. Track your numbers, see your progress.

While habits track your consistency, Metrics track your quantifiable progress. They are the specific numbers you want to see change over time. Whether you're tracking weight, savings, running distance, or practice time, metrics provide a clear, data-driven view of your journey.
How to Use Metrics
1. Define Your Metric
Go to the My Metrics page. Here, you can create a new metric. You will define:
- Name: What are you measuring? (e.g., "Body Weight", "Book Pages Read")
- Unit: How do you measure it? (e.g., "lbs", "pages", "$")
- Current & Target Value: Where are you now, and where do you want to be? This helps create the target line on your progress charts.
- Linked Goals: Connect this metric to the overarching goal it serves.
2. Log Your Daily Value
On your Dashboard, you'll find the "Daily Metrics Log" section. Use the date navigator to select the correct day, enter your value for each metric, and click "Save". The system will automatically update your "Current Value" and save the entry to your progress history. You can go back and edit or add values for any day.
3. Visualize Your Progress
The real power of tracking metrics is seeing the trend over time. You can view your progress in two key places:
- On the Goal Progress Page: Go to My Goals and click "View Progress" on a goal. You will see a detailed line chart for every metric linked to that goal.
- On the Metric Progress Page: Go to My Metrics and click the chart icon () next to a metric to see a dedicated, full-history view of just that metric's progress.
